- 1 box (15.25 oz chocolate cake mix)
- 1 box (3.9 oz instant chocolate pudding mix)
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- Mix the Pudding Base: In a medium bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and milk until smooth. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
- Layer the Cake: Pour the pudding mixture into the greased baking dish. Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the pudding layer, making sure it’s spread out but not stirred in.
- Add Butter & Chocolate Chips: Drizzle melted butter over the cake mix, covering most of the surface. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly on top, and add nuts if desired.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is set and slightly crisp, but the center remains gooey and soft.
- Cool & Serve: Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a perfect, indulgent treat.
