Description

This Classic Cherry Cobbler is a timeless dessert that’s both easy to make and incredibly satisfying. It combines a sweet cherry filling with a buttery, golden crust that’s sure to be a hit with your family and friends.


Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅛ teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 21-ounce can cherry pie filling
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 ounce cream cheese (optional, cubed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place 8 tablespoons of butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, salt, milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth.
  3. Once the butter is melted, carefully pour the batter over the melted butter—do not stir or mix.
  4. Spoon the cherry pie filling on top of the batter and sprinkle cream cheese cubes (if using) on top of the cherries.
  5. Sprinkle ¼ cup of light brown sugar evenly over the entire dish.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden and bubbly. The cobbler is done when the top is golden and the cherries are bubbling through.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
