- 8 tablespoons 1 stick butter
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup milk
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅛ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 21-ounce can cherry pie filling
- ¼ cup light brown sugar (for topping)
- 1 ounce cream cheese (optional, cubed)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place 8 tablespoons of butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, granulated sugar, salt, milk, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth.
- Once the butter is melted, carefully pour the batter over the melted butter—do not stir or mix.
- Spoon the cherry pie filling on top of the batter and sprinkle cream cheese cubes (if using) on top of the cherries.
- Sprinkle ¼ cup of light brown sugar evenly over the entire dish.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden and bubbly. The cobbler is done when the top is golden and the cherries are bubbling through.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
